He didn't mention it, but all it requires is MC5's WaveRT Exclusive Mode driver on a Win7 computer whose onboard sound card supports WaveRT.

I finally figured out how to this by following a suggestion by Acoustica Eric. I don't have any interfaces or USB devices or mixers. The deal is, the mic and the strat are plugged directly into my computer so is my yamaha psr225 keyboard and my gnx3000. Maybe I'll add shread amp and serious distortion. Point is, my disgusting voice and gross fingerpicken are accurately recorded. Latency while monitoring incoming audio on my computers speakers? 3ms.

I have a recording I'm trying to practice/work on in my DAW that was recorded with the 1073 Unison preamp, but nothing else. If so, that could be another possibility. I am not sure if the Twin X supports these option. On the racked Apollo's there is a feature to completely disable digital gain per input.

I prefer to remove the wind shield from the SM7B and use a regular pop filter instead. UAD 1073 -> just needle kissing LA-2A (silver plate - mostly) -> Studer Tape (Preset 'Vocals' with noise off) for a little more grit and grip. My vocal recording chain for the SM7B, if I use just unison:

If you go for 1073 in the unison slot, +50dB gain and full output (+12dB - full clockwise) is a good starting point for the most clean-ish setting. If I use a SM7B on vocals, I use a 1073 (unison or hardware - depending on the recording situation) most of the time.

Keep in mind this will NOT prevent clipping the input if your piezo is super hot. I'd just use a hint of the 1176 with almost no gain reduction on both, but turn the output up on vocal, down on guitar (just a bit). You can do the opposite - use a little digital reduction in gain so it prints lower for the HiZ. You'll want to use a little extra digital gain on Apollo for the SM7, if you're quiet. Is there any way to fix this?The HiZ adds 10dB gain at minimum. That said, when I have the acoustic plugged into that input, and the mic into Ch 2, the recording level for the mic is extremely quiet compared to the guitar. So I'm guessing the Hi-Z is the proper input for an acoustic? I noticed when I plug the acoustic into the Hi-Z input, the recording level is perfect, but it is super quiet when I plug it into one of the other inputs. I know that mic-ing the acoustic is the most ideal method, but I unfortunately am just working with one mic (SM7B for vocals), so I'm plugging in my acoustic to use the Piezo pickups and record it line-in (I've read the Wood Works plugin is great for making a line-in acoustic sound like it's microphones). I'm trying to come up with a basic Console setting for recording Acoustic Guitar and vocals simultaneously into my Apollo Twin X.
